Saturday, Saturday, Saturday!  This week’s theme ride will be a far cry from the previous “hills” ride, in stark contrast, this ride will be all about the “coast.”

One of the many islands we'll see along the way.

Official Event sign up is here:

Basic details:

Who:  You.

What:  Road bike ride.  Same pace as the Tuesday/Sunday rides, i.e. conversational and no-drop.  The route is roughly 75 miles, pretty flat, and coastal.

Where:  New Haven to Outer Light Brewery in Groton, then taking the Shore Liner train home from New London, which departs promptly at 2:50 pm and arrives in New Haven at 3:55 pm.

When:  Saturday, August 13th, 7:00 AM departure.  Meet at the shop, 138 Bradley Street, I’ll have coffee and donuts on hand.

How:  Legs and a strong thirst.

Bonus:  NHBC members are rumored to be at Christopher Martin’s watching Olympic track cycling right around the time we get home, so the party can continue!

Long winded details:

Interested in a lovely road ride featuring scenery, cool ocean breezes, and delicious beer?  Me too!  That’s why I am plotting an easy breezy course for Saturday, August 13th from New Haven to Outer Light Brewing in Groton.  We’ll ride all along the coast, almost all the way to Rhode Island before pulling into Outer Light Brewery, one of Connecticut’s up and coming breweries (in my not so humble and perhaps a touch snobby opinion) where we can bring in some food for sustenance, and sample a wide variety of beer.  When we’re ready to head out, we’ll ride a short distance back over the bridge to the New London Train station where we’ll board the Shore Liner East and take the train home to New Haven.  Train tickets are around $10 and bikes are allowed on for free.

Let me know if you are interested and I’ll send you the route when it’s completed.
