Bryan Hollingsworth has been fabricating show quality bikes under the name Royal H for decades. His specialty is steel, both lugged and brazed, but has made bikes of all types and materials over the years. Bryan works with riders on a built to order basis, starting with design parameters, features and options, paint and other aesthetics, and then chooses the appropriate steel tubes and lugs to turn the creation into something equally at home on your next ride, or at the Philly Bike Expo, where he’s shown his bikes every year since the very beginning. I met Bryan as a colleague while at Seven Cycles, and was beyond thrilled when he opened True Cyclery as his only authorized retailer. Made in Medford, Massachusetts Royal H bikes are so very special, most notably in how smoothly they roll. Bryan is a friend, an artist, and as good of a guy as you can find. Here are some of our recent Royal H builds:
Josh rode before he got his Royal H Nighthawk, but not like he does now. Now he rides non-stop. And fast. And far. Not long ago he rode to his wedding, New Haven to Cleveland. He’s relentless. I’ve never seen a change like that in a rider, I’m sure part of it is his will to keep pushing, but I bet most of it is his love for this Royal H. Steel tubing, custom New Mexico inspired Nighthawk paint job, Ultegra Di2. Two wheelsets, one for road, one for off, the bike simply doesn’t care.
Bryan, my friend Phil, and I worked on a project bike together for the Philly Bike Expo (and to ride), we called it the “Bed of Roses” which was entirely based on Jan Heine’s book, “The All-Road Bike Revolution.” A book about how everything in a bike like this is more or less the best for all things no matter what they are. He wasn’t wrong, and neither was this beautiful bike. Available for test rides!
