Mintage Bikes™

You may have noticed the recent surge of mint, vintage 26” wheeled mountain bikes being turned into city bikes, commuters, and utilitarian rigs.  Why?

  • Fun – Whether you are riding to work, the coffee shop, bar or grocery you’ll be shocked at how much more satisfying – often faster – it is to get there on a bike.
  • Practical – We’ll repurpose these bikes specifically for your needs, commuting, city errands, grocery runs, social outings.
  • Simplicity – 1x drivetrains – for a wide range of gearing and less thought.  Flat pedals – get on and go, no outfit change required.  Nothing fancy – less eye catching than your road bike.  Baskets, lights, locks – ready to go anytime, anywhere.

Like every bike we build at True Cyclery, your Mintage™ bike will be built just for you.  Prior to purchase we will discuss usage, how you want it outfitted, budget, timeline, and if there are any specific bikes or brands you have nostalgia for.  From there, I hit the used airwaves pouring over Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, Ebay, and of course, the legendary Bradley Street Bicycle Coop.  Sometimes bikes are readily available but more often we’ll wait for the right bike to be listed before we pounce, sometimes days, sometimes months.

Pricing can range from hundreds to thousands of dollars depending on the price of the used bike, and how you want it outfitted.
